2012/2013 Energy Tax Credit
American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 (H.R.8)
To qualify, windows and patio doors must be ENERGY STARŪ qualified for the region in which they are installed.
Homeowners may claim:
- 10% of the cost (not including installation and labor costs), up to $200 for windows and skylights; and up to $500 for doors. The aggregate amount of the credit is limited to $500.
- A taxpayer is ineligible for the credit if the credit has already been claimed in an amount of $500 in any previous year. It is not on top of the $1,500 limit in 2009-2010.
Products must be installed in the taxpayer's primary residence by December 31, 2013. New construction is not eligible.
